Honda Magna V65 Motorcycles

In 1983, Honda needed a motorcycle that competed in speed with the bikes developed by Yamaha and Suzuki. Their answer was the Magna V65, considered to be one of the fastest motorcycles of its time. Although, the Magna V65 was considered a cruising bike, it was equipped with an 1100 cc V-4 racing engine that produced 116hp. In a competitive 1/4 mile race, the 1100 got a time of 11.29 seconds at 119.2 mph. The V65 had a 5-speed transmission with an overdrive.

The Honda Magna V65 was the first to use a sprag clutch. An ordinary clutch can bring about loss of traction in the rear wheel while downshifting, causing terrible accidents. A sprag clutch can prevent traction loss in the rear wheel during fast downshifts.

Honda's Magna series motorcycles were produced from 1982 through 2003, but the V65 was produced from 1983 through 1986, and was the only one made with an 1100 cc engine. Built for speed, it was also made for comfort on the road. It was equipped with adjustable front air suspension, adjustable rear shocks, and adjustable handlebars that could be moved up and down or forward and back. Honda's narrow, compact design of the engine makes the bike comfortable to ride.
