Ducati SuperSport Motorcycles for Sale
While most potential Ducati owners go for the Monster or Hypermotard, there is another Ducati motorcycle out there that has some of the most unique styling ever seen on the brand. The Ducati SuperSport motorcycle predates both of the more popular modern versions and is responsible for leading up to the styling designs of the newer Ducati.
What initially began as the Super Sport in the 1970's and the unique square casing engine became the full fairing monster Ducati SuperSport in 1988. The 1988 version of the motorcycle still carried the cafe style fairings seen on the earlier models, but with a much more powerful engine in the Pantah 904cc. The cafe style front fairing coupled with a fairing kit for the rest of the motorcycle gave the motorcycle a more unique look than other motorcycle of the day with their choppy lines.

The 1988 version of the Ducati Supersport was unfortunately not a success due to the motorcycle having smaller wheels than the typical motorcycle (16" instead of 17"). However, the carburetor (which can only be called junk) and faulty swingarms ultimately led to a need for the motorcycle to be re-engineered.
Our favorite of the Ducati Supersport motorcycles has to be the 2002 MH900e. Ducati offered their 1999 to 2007 SuperSport motorcycles in full or half fairing designs (and 700 or 900cc engine sizes), and the MH900e falls in the latter category. The SuperSport MH900e has a half fairing which has the cafe fairing style of the '70's Ducati Super Sport motorcycles. The look also appears to be a precursor to the naked motorcycles that Ducati is now famous for, with a good bit of the motorcycle's frame being displayed.

Being a favorite does not equate to being popular though, since just 2,000 of these SuperSport motorcycles were ever built. The look of the motorcycle was just too unique for some buyers, with the body of the motorcycle appearing to be suspended above the engine and motor mounts. It's possible that the design of the sportbike was just a bit too old-fashioned looking to have any success, or maybe Ducati just released it too soon. The popularity of this motorcycle for collectors today cannot be discounted, making the MH900e extremely difficult to find.

So why should you purchase a Ducati SuperSport motorcycle? Well outside of the collector's needs, the motorcycle does lend itself to unique styling that just cannot be found on any other motorcycle on the road. Even in the models of the motorcycle that did not really become collector's favorites, the value of the motorcycle has still held it's value over the years, and should for many years to come. Which makes the Ducati SuperSport more of an investment in your money than the typical Honda or Yamaha.
If vintage motorcycles are your style and you enjoy riding or owning them, then we can't suggest enough that practically any of the Ducati SuperSport motorcycles should be added to your collection!
