Ducati 996 Motorcycles
The Ducati 996 motorcycle has been in production since 1999 with the 996 branching out into the 996SPS and 996R since that first production year. The Ducati base class 996 has the same basic motor as its predecessor the 916 but with several upgrades. The L-twin engine has been redesigned with a larger piston bore, at 98mm(3.8in) and 66mm of stroke, giving the 996 a 61 cubic inches displacement. The crankshaft and crankcase have also been upgraded to make them more durable on the Ducati 996. To increase breath-ability, all four of the valves on the cylinders where made larger, with an air box design being incorporated. All of these changes led to an improved and more durable Ducati 996 with a maximum speed of 161mph.
